Western Gypsies
Western Gypsies hail from Gulfport, Florida performing gypsy jazz standards and original acoustic compositions. Ashton Farner and Matt Frick are impressing the local Jazz community, creating a high-powered acoustic experience since 2022. The duo first met as students of Josh Hindmarsh from Hot Tonic. They quickly became great friends and were inspired to play the music and styles of Django Reinhardt. Matt Frick’s influences of bluegrass and advanced rhythms mix well with Ashton Farner’s advanced jazz guitar styles. Music aficionados can look forward to a memorable acoustical experience this April at the Sunshine Getdown Festival. Joining Western Gypsies will be local legend Keven Aland, a top notch jazz violinist from Hot Club SRQ and Amor Aggari on percussion.
